It is no secret? the Greater Palm Springs is a haven for golf enthusiasts from all over the world. And with 2019 only starting, let us take a look at the hottest golf tournament in town: the Desert Classic.


PGA Tour: Desert Classic presented by Workday

When: January 16 to 20, 2019
Where: La Quinta Country Club, PGA WEST Stadium, and Nicklaus Tournament Courses

The PGA Tour returns to the emerald fairways of the Greater Palm Springs with the Desert Classic. It was originally known as the CareerBuilder Challenge. It is most notable for establishing Arnold Palmer as a formidable golfer in 1960. This year, the Desert Classic marks its 60th anniversary.

Presenting the PGA Tour this year is Workday, a software company based in San Francisco.

The Desert Classic presented by Workday will start on January 16 and wrap up on January 20, 2019. Games will take place in PGA WEST’s Stadium, La Quinta Country Club, and Jack Nicklaus Tournament Resort Courses.

Aside from the tournament itself, the Desert Classic will also celebrate Desert Classic Charities’ success. This charitable arm recently reached their $60 million mark in donations. As a result, the Desert Classic will unveil a Hall of Fame. Arnold Palmer and Bob Hope are some of the inaugural inductees.

  • January 16, 2019 (Wednesday)
    Bob Hope Legacy Pro-Am
    PGA WEST Stadium Course
    Shotgun tee time: 8:30 AM

    The following areas are open to spectators: Albertsons Vons Fan Pavillion, Casamigos Club 17, Michelob Ultra Beers fore Birdies.

  • January 17, 2019 (Thursday)
    First Round
    PGA WEST Stadium & Nicklaus Courses, La Quinta Country Club
    Tee times start at 8:30 AM

    The following areas are open to spectators: Casamigos Club 17, Albertsons Vons Fan Pavilion, Michelob Ultra Beers fore Birdies.

  • January 18, 2019 (Friday)
    Second Round
    PGA WEST Stadium & Nicklaus Courses, La Quinta Country Club
    Tee times start at 8:30 AM

    The same areas in the Bob Hope Legacy Pro-Am and First Round are open to all spectators.

    At 5:00 PM, the Desert Classic Concert Series will start. This one will feature Sammy Hagar & The Circle.

  • January 19, 2019 (Saturday)
    Third Round
    PGA WEST Stadium & Nicklaus Courses, La Quinta Country Club
    Tee times start at 8:30 AM

    All areas mentioned (Michelob, Albertsons, and Casamigos) will be open to all spectators.

    The Desert Classic Concert will start at 5:00 PM, this time featuring Bad Company.

  • January 20, 2019 (Sunday)
    Final Round
    PGA WEST Stadium Course
    Tee times start at 8:30 AM

    At 11:00 AM, there will be a golf clinic for kids. Children age 15 and under get free gifts. Trophy and check presentation will follow shortly after the play at the PGA WEST Stadium Course.
