Top 4 Events to Attend in Coachella Valley, CA

Portrait of happy crowd enjoying and dancing at music festival

Some of the biggest events in America happen in California’s Coachella Valley. Here are the top 4 events in the Desert Empire:

    1. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
      Two weekends in April

The famous musical festival that began in 1991 tops the list. Each year, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival attracts thousands of music lovers from all over the world to watch jaw-dropping performances from the biggest names in music. The festival runs through two weekends and features every musical genre – from mainstream pop to dance, hip-hop to rock, EDM to the new beats of obscure indie acts. The festival is held in the city of Indio and also features art installations. The gold standard when it comes to music festivals, Coachella sells out tickets within hours of their release – thanks in part to the “Coachella Culture” that has come from it. Music isn’t the only thing people look out for at Coachella – so is the fashion befitting the music festival’s unique aesthetic, a desert-bohemian vibe mixed with hippie chic.

  1. BNP Paribas Open
    Two weeks in March

A professional tennis tournament held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, BNP Paribas Open, also known as The Indian Wells Masters, is recognized as one of the world’s top tennis events. Every March, the BNP Open brings the world’s biggest tennis players to compete. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic both hold the record for the most titles won in this tournament. The BNP Paribas Open has one of the highest attendances for a tennis tournament, second only to the Grand Slam.

  2. Palm Springs Film Festival
    Two weeks in January

This film festival is a global event that typically showcases nearly 200 films from over 70 countries. It is one of the largest and most well-known film festivals in America attracting 135,000 guests who attend screenings and other events over a period of 14 days. The festival kicks off with the Awards Gala, which also functions as a fundraiser and draws Hollywood A-listers.

  3. Tour de Palm Springs
    One day in February

This charity cycling event aims to raise funds for nonprofit organizations in the Coachella Valley. The money will go to more than 100 local charities that the nonprofits support. Every year since 1990, thousands of people bike through Coachella Valley on a series of routes marked by gorgeous rolling desert hills. Entire families have participated, including kids. Since its inception, the event has raised more than a million dollars. Bikes are available on the day of the event itself.
