Who wouldn’t crave ice cream, especially when in the middle of the desert during the daytime? Luckily, the Greater Palm Springs area is rife with great ice cream places to sate your cravings. And if you’re up for healthier versions of your cool treat, you have a wealth of options here.

Treat yourself to cold dessert in the desert from these must-try spots:

Lappert’s Premium Gourmet Ice Cream

130 North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs

Established in 2006, Lappert’s is one of the most popular dessert places in the Coachella Valley. It was voted as the 2020 winner of Best of Desert as well as Top 5 Best for Date Shake of the Coachella Valley by the Desert Sun. Choose from their 48 standard flavors, as well as their special 260 rotating flavors that are made in small batches to ensure quality for each treat served. They also have chocolate-dipped and shaved ice treats. You can opt for the standard milk-based options or you can go dairy-free, gluten-free, or vegan – Lappert’s can accommodate your distinct dessert requirements.

Beach House Frozen Yogurt

72363 Highway 111, Suite A2A, Palm Desert

Undoubtedly one of the most comfortable and inviting dessert shops in the valley, Beach House serves a whole range of ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato, smoothies, and shakes. They offer 21 flavor choices and 60 fresh toppings that you can mix and match as you please for a delicious frozen dessert that’s custom-made for you.

Kreem

170 East Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs

Serving gourmet ice cream, coffee, and seasonal sorbets, Kreem specializes in small hand-made batches of ice cream, prepared in-house with organic and natural ingredients. They also offer vegan-friendly options, some of them with almond milk that they make themselves! Java lovers will be happy to know that this place also serves coffee – we recommend Kreem’s cuppa Joe, made of Heart Roasters beans from Portland, OR.

Nitroinfusions

78010 Main Street, Suite 108, Old Town La Quinta

If one of your favorite things to do in La Quinta is to try something new simply for the experience, try a cool blast of liquid nitrogen ice cream in this place. Founders Nancy and Sebastian Prieto were inspired by the science behind this so they experimented with family recipes for organic, fresh ice cream preparations. They source local fresh ingredients for their products, with 30 flavors and combinations for you to enjoy.

Ice Cream & Shop(pe)

1551 North Palm Canyon Drive, Suite A, Palm Springs

Serving delectable ice cream flavors since it opened its doors in 2016 to meet evening cravings, Shop(pe) is open from noon up to 9 PM. A combination of an ice cream parlor and gift shop at the Arrive Hotel in North Palm Springs, it stands out as both unique and convenient, particularly for Coachella Valley visitors. Curious about what products they offer at the gift shop? Check out their online store here!

Make sure you still have room for dessert when you dine in the Greater Palm Springs area because you simply cannot go wrong with topping a great meal with the wonderful cold treats that this area offers.
