The Palm Springs Sign
Nothing quite tells the world where you are like a giant sign that literally states it. Given the vast, beige and brown surroundings of the desert, the Palm Springs sign is hard to miss. It’s located just north of the visitor’s center on the west side of Highway 111.
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
If your feed needs a little diversity from palm trees, pools and mid-century modern design, head to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, it’s the world’s largest rotating tramcar. Each windowed car will take you 8,516 feet into the air, alongside the towering cliffs of the San Jacinto Mountains.
Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree provides the perfect backdrop for all things desert wanderlust. The park is home to iconic Seuss-like cacti and spacey geological formations. The park also welcomes a long list of music, yoga and wellness events and festivals throughout the year. Hiking, camping, and rock climbing are accessible year-round at Joshua Tree National Park. Just be aware that summer temperatures can creep above 100 degrees.
The Saguaro Hotel
Nicknames the "rainbow hotel,” The Saguaro Hotel is the spot for snapping festive, summery poolside party pictures. The hotel has no fear of color, with bright, bold contrasting color palettes used throughout the hotel. Think hot pink outdoor fireplaces, lemon yellow cabanas, neon green lounges, and rainbow exterior building accent walls.
Salvation Mountain
Salvation Mountain is everything you want from a quirky, one-of-a-kind desert roadside attraction. It’s a “mountain” made of adobe clay and completely painted in colorful designs and messages of love and God, by late resident and artist Leonard Knight. It’s located not far from the Salton Sea, a once-thriving tourist attraction turned into a desolate wasteland.
The Parker Palm Springs Hotel
Anyone who appreciates a theme will love the experience of walking through each thoughtfully decorated room of The Parker Palm Springs Hotel. Bright and literal, the Yacht Club spa features all blue, Victorian-era inspired travel decor. A Pétanque lawn with ornate wicker chairs and biophilic fencing transports you to a summer day in Paris circa 1920.
